The secret WordPress Google AdSense plugin.

There are a nearly a dozen popular WordPress plugins for AdSense. RMO has tried nearly all of them but there is one that we have consistently used for nearly a year: WhyDoWork AdSense Plugin for WordPress. We call it a secret because we can’t find it in WordPress.org’s extend directory. Here are the reasons why we love this AdSense plugin for WordPress and consider it the best:
- It accepts 7 different codes. Even none-AdSense scripts and HTML.
- It is compatible with AdSense’s managed ads feature. We simply copy and paste the Adsense script into the code box and configure all setting in our AdSense dashboard. Simple and straightforward.
- We can make 3 different codes appear in any location within up to 3 posts in the front page. It is running the ProjectWonderful ad at the first post’s footer at the moment.
- It can place 3 different codes in 3 positions within a single page.
- It has the option to display 3 different codes in 3 positions within a single page after a set number of days. Nice for showing a different set of AdSense and other adverts to visitors from the search engines.
It was made even better by BinaryAnt by adding an option to make the ads appear only to visitors from the search engines. Follow his instructions here.
BTW, this WordPress AdSense plugin allows us to monitize traffic from Google and Yahoo with Pay Per Click ads without bothering our loyal readers with the strategically-positioned link ads.

I like it – I especially like the idea of only showing ads to new visitors – IE by the search engines . I think I am going to untilise this code on my own site to use in a few applications.

I was using this plugin to only show ads on the the post older than 7 days till the time I changed my theme and all hell broke loose. I haven’t managed to get it fixed though.

Hi all!
The one thing we liked about it is it’s ability not to show Adsense to readers from social networks like entrecard.
It also stopped working for us in WP2.5.1 but it’s back now.

This sounds very cool, but I would not recommend the option to only show ads to visitors arriving from search engines. If your blog is highly targeted, then your ads will be targeted as well, so it shouldn’t really matter where the visitors arrive from.

You’re right. But we like turning off the ads for our posts first visitors from EntreCard. Web savvy bloggers are wary of clicking adsense or are ad-blind anyway.

I don’t like using Wordpress personally. Seems to complicated and it also costs way more money. I guess that wouldn’t really matter if you had that good of a site. However, to have to pay for bandwidth and all that good stuff, Wordpress just doesn’t seem worth it.

Blogger is actually a vibrant community. It’s just sad that sploggers and spammers with get rich quick schemes has tarnished its image as a free blogging platform.
RMO actually has a double in Blogger.com although we haven’t updated it for a while. We wanted to use the Blogger platform at first since we started RMO as our online notes and we don’t want to go through the hassle of independent hosting while we are still learning.
However, we can’t get the domain name to point to the blog even after paying for CName and following the tutorial at Blogger.
We’re glad though that Blogger is finally introducing new features. About time.

Nice Idea…. Another thing that I feel is that,
* Showing Less Ads Help in boosting the Cost per Click
* Using Well formed keywords can make Show up of Costly Ads which generate more revenue.
* The less ads you show on your Page… the more costly ads are shown ie. the ad-space goes to the highest Bidder.

Hi. Just curious. What are the advantages of only showing ads to visitors from search engines? What I mean specifically is, what are the advantages of target the visitors from search engines versus other targeted groups? Are they more likely to click the ads?

This blog has 2 main traffic source, EntreCard and Google. Before, we have Adsense plastered everywhere both for Entrecard visitors and Google searchers. Then we thought the blog looks ugly with all the ads and removed most of them, leaving ads only for Google searchers. The click-through rate was the same. This unscientific observation seems to uphold the common belief that Search Engine visitors are the ones who are likely to click text ads.

I have Google ads on my blogs but I am not satisfied by that plugin. I am amazed to see power of your plugin and I’ll try it on one of my blogs. I am going to ask another question(it might be very silly), I can see many sites with Google ads on more than 3 positions. Is it possible to do the same on blogs? I searched a lot and Google don’t allow more than 3 ads on one page(it simply shows 3 and 1 is always vanished). I tried it manually but its the same. How can I do that?

I agree with you. People who came from search engines are people who click on ads, because most of them are searching for new info, they want to learn, and probably they don’t know what is Adsense. Regular readers or other webmasters/bloggers don’t use to click on ads. Personally I feel fear from Google ads, because I own few websites and all time I’m afraid to not click on my ads, and then my account will be terminated. I feel this fear even when I’m visiting other blogs or websites.
