Inserting photos and images in blog comments.

It is possible to insert or place photos or images in blog comments, just like in forum signatures. Images could make our comments stand apart from the rest, emphasize our point, or append a unique signature.

The comment field of blogs can accept HTML. That’s how spammers place anchor text there for their links. Instead of link tags, we simply use image tags.

The HTML tag for inserting images (works with GIF, PNG, and JPG) is img. We place it between angle brackets (”<” and “>”) together wit the URL of the image. The complete code will look something like this…

<img src=”http://www.URL-of-the-image.jpg”>

Here’s a real img tag at work…

<img src=”http://www.hoax-slayer.com/images/worlds-strongest-dog.jpg” alt=”" width=”360″ height=”521″ />

This is the image…

UPDATE:

Due to a comment by Max of ZedoMax and SiteHoppin, we double checked what HTML tags do WordPress allow in its comments and it seems that we can only use basic tags for security reasons. Admins can use IMG tags because, presumably, we already have passed the security check.

However, there are some WordPress sites that allows commenters to embed images in their comments.They are using a hack according to this WP forum thread.

If anybody wishes to enable commenters to post photos and images in WordPress comments (self-hosted), without hacking the code or with minimal tweaking, there is a plugin available here.

We are sorry if we mislead anyone regarding this little tutorial. Thank you.

    Thanks I like it when I learn little tricks like these. I made a note of it and will try in out later. What a ghastly looking dog, is it yours?

    He, he.. No. We just picked it off the web to illustrate the tag.

    it’s a female whippet with a mutant gene or something. Pretty muscular but quite gentle, the site said.

    That whippet is huge. I guess the steroid problem is just not in baseball these days.

    That’s great, but wouldn’t you want the img size to be smaller as to not take up much of the size of the standard 60kb sites?
